Pre-trip anxiety
It's now 11:21, the night before I leave Boston for Mumbai.
I have not heard from Neema, with whom I'm flying in early to spend some time in Goa. Neema was charged with finding us accommodation until our team lodging is available on the 7th. Although I'm confident she did so, the silence is a bit unnerving.
Not only have I not started packing, I haven't done necessary laundry yet, and need to go shopping for bug deterrence tools.
I just heard from my clinical advisor, Sharan. We just heard back from our Mumbai-based NGO about the prison access letter I drafted two months ago. They haven't done anything with it yet, and informed Sharan that at this point, there's not enough time to cut through the bureaucracy and get legitimate prison access. Sharan is working on a Plan B, so that we don't have to resort to Plan X (get a team member arrested and visit him/her).
This January is going to be quite the adventure. Maybe next year I'll just take Evidence from Nesson.
